We provide community-based prevention and family foster care services, group homes in the community for struggling children and families within the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, and short-term residential services for unaccompanied migrant children. Each year, MercyFirst serves more than 3,000 children, teenagers and families overcome enormous obstacles, re-imagine their futures and develop their full potential.PROGRAM BACKGROUND:The ACT program, located in Catherine (Bay Shore) and Harley (Brentwood) houses supports our foster care youth as they prepare for the future. The program provides teens and young adults with skills and testing to secure viable jobs, scholarship assistance to attend college or vocational school, obtain and maintain affordable housing in the community, and life skills coaches to guide them during the challenging transition from foster care to adulthood. SUMMARY:This position is responsible for after-hours administrative oversight of programming within the ACT Program. The qualified candidate will provide onsite supervision and support to the Youth Support Counselors and residents in the two group homes. During their shift, this individual will be responsible for the reporting and documentation of all critical incidents, including notification to external stakeholders and families. Additionally, this individual will be the point person for responding to emergencies and coordinating with Program/Clinical Administration on call as needed during their shift.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma with 5+ years of experience in residential programming administration; Excellent Leadership, Organizational, Supervision, Communication and Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and training in working with adolescents & families; Knowledge and training in working with direct care staff.
  • Understanding and willingness to commit to the agency's mission, core values and Sanctuary commitments.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License, satisfactory driving record and ability to travel in and around the Long Island region.
  • Schedule will include evenings/weekend hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The After-Hours Supervisor will report directly to the Assistant Director of Long Island Residential Programs and provide after-hours supervision to the two sites.
  • The After-Hours Supervisor will be responsible for continuous monitoring of video camera surveillance in the programs.
  • This individual will be responsible for coordination with the clinical department for all clinical assessments needed during their shift.
  • The After-Hours Supervisor will also be the point person for directing transportation and unit staff as needed and documentation of all critical incidents.
