Job Duties

Western State Hospital is seeking a full time After Hours TDO Coordinator who will serve as the Primary Intake Coordinator after hours in the WSH Admission Office as part of a multidisciplinary team that coordinates primarily TDO admissions to the facility; provide a welcoming and recovery oriented environment while assisting newly admitted patients with registration and admission to the facility; receive referral calls from CSBs. Screen referrals and provide consultation when appropriate; assess needs of referrals and recommend alternative placement ideas or resources; initiate documentation on referrals screening for

complicating factors such as substance abuse and intellectual disabilities.

The After Hours TDO Coordinator will interview and assist newly admitted patients with

registration and adjustment to admission; complete admission/registration of new patients

in AVATAR, ONEMIND EHRS; operate/program security access tools during the admission process; and conduct continuous Learning/Development and participation in the hospital-wide service delivery system.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experience working with consumers with serious mental illness

* Experience working independently making critical decisions

* Computer experience in a health care setting

* Ability to work primarily 2nd shift

* Commensurate experience

* Knowledge of functioning of hospital and community mental health systems

* Demonstrated knowledge of Virginia Prescreening procedures and Virginia statues related to ECOs and TDOs

* Ability to work independently in a stressful environment where discretion and clinical decisions must be made quickly to coordinate services

* Strong organizational and problem solving skills

Additional Considerations

* Experience working with Electronic Medical Record/interfaces from other software programs (Avatar/Microsoft Office

* Knowledge of community resources for the SMI population

* Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders and community based treatment options

* Knowledge of programming security access systems

* Associates or bachelor's degree in Human Service field

* Bilingual

* Veteran
