The Afterschool Assistant Project Director in overseeing the operation of the Reaching Higher Program to meet the goals of the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. Essential Functions:
- Assists with developing, implementing and administering program budgets.
- Implements program policies.
- Assists in writing grant submissions and other required documents to the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and other sources as required.
- Recruits and interviews staff and volunteers.
- Supervises and monitors Site Coordinators and fills in for them when needed.
- Works in partnership with school-day personnel, partnering school districts and schools.
- Monitors sites' activities to ensure grant compliance.
- Participates in MDE on-site reviews and fiscal audits.
- Assist with statewide evaluation process and EZ reports database maintenance.
- Assures parent and student participation in the implementation, planning and evaluation of program.
- Analyzes and applies information from periodic program evaluations including YPQA.
- Ensures adequate level and frequency of professional development for site staff and ensures they are in compliance.
- Attends staff meetings regularly.
- Attends and participates in mandatory meetings (Project Director's Institute and Fall Kick-Offs).
- Participates in required number of professional development training at state and national levels in addition to trainings required by licensing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications:Bachelor degree in child development or a behavioral science with an emphasis in education is required. Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- Education and experience in early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education, physical education and recreation, child development, child guidance/counseling, child psychology, family studies and social work, human services, and youth development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of youth and ability to teach them.
- At least 4 years of experience working with youth in a structured program setting.
- At least 2 years supervisory experience and demonstrate leadership abilities.
- Shall be a person of good character who possesses the health, emotional stability, maturity and strength to carry out assigned duties.
- A minimum of 2 years progressive experience in providing services with youth and families.
- Ability to show sensitivity to the service populations' cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
***The Assistant Project Director provides supervision and oversight to supervisory Site Coordinator staff and their assigned programs.Travel Requirements:
- Extensive travel to sites is required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must maintain adequate insurance coverage
- Must have/maintain a valid driver's license and fewer than 2 points
