Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a not-for-profit community development organization serving 11,000 residents a year through a comprehensive array of housing preservation, economic development, community organizing, and youth and family support services programs and projects. The mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing, and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community.
Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation has an opening for two (2) full-time Afterschool Elementary School Program Directors in our Youth and Family Services Division. This position is salaried for 35 hours per week.
Principal Duties:
- Design and implement high-quality after-school and summer camp programming, incorporating Arts, Sports and Fitness, Recreation, Community Service, Academic Assistance, and Leadership Development.
- Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate afterschool program staff. Conduct a weekly staff meeting.
- Recruit, enroll, and retain students to meet and exceed the required enrollment and rate of participation expectations of our funders.
- Collect and maintain all required records.
- Plan and carry out family events and parent meetings.
- Assess and address the individual and collective needs of students and parents, and solicit and respond to their input into the program.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with the Principal.
- Conduct a monthly meeting.
- Develop positive relations with all stakeholders—school staff, building partners, parents.
- Serve as liaison to funders and regulators of the program.
- Maintain contractual and regulatory compliance.
- Participate fully in division-wide and agency-wide meetings and project teams.
- With the Talent Manager, design and pilot a staffing structure at the host School that provides additional steps in the career ladder within the out-of-school time programs, including a 'Senior Group Leader' role with responsibilities for showcasing best practices, mentoring peers, and developing a learning community.
- Manage budget and petty cash account.
- Conduct yourself as a representative of the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation.
- Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
- Perform other duties as assigned as necessary for the success of the program.
Position Requirements:
- Extensive experience with after school/extracurricular settings with elementary school-aged young people.
- Experience with supervision of staff.
- Demonstrated ability with administrative tasks.
- Should be enthusiastic and dedicated to the program's educational and youth development goals.
- Bachelor's in Education, Social Work, or related fields required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Salary:
- $58,500 - 63,500 annually. The salary offer is based on experience level, program size, and the affiliated program contract. In addition to a comparable salary, we offer a very competitive benefits package.
