Position: Agile Coach III (Level 12) – Coach, Lean Agile COE, US Group Benefits

Job Location: New York, NY or Bridgewater, NJ or Cary, NC (virtual is a possibility)

The Role: This position will coach 5+ Teams or 1-2 Agile Release Trains (ARTs) in US Group Benefit's Agile Delivery Model, which is based off a SAFe's Product Management Model. The position will play a crucial role in ensuring the health of our SAFe Agile operating model driving outcomes of greater agility, team empowerment, quality, and speed to market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Applies industry trends based on experiential learning to fit the context of ART challenges.
  • Actively participates and facilitates in Agile related Communities of Practices.
  • Uses data from the teams and tools to help with visualizing flow of value.
  • Facilitates sessions involving complex issues involving ARTs, multiple stakeholders and conflicting priorities.
  • Coaches 5+ Teams or Coaches 1-2 ARTs towards maturing their team of teams use of Agile, Lean and XP.
  • Uses the Shu, Ha, Ri pattern to introduce proven practices to achieve greater PI predictability.
  • Upskills Scrum Leads and RTEs to become coaches. Is able to effectively coach ART and Stakeholder roles.
  • Introduces and matures ARTs in the dimensions defined within the Agile Product Delivery, TTA and DevOps Health assessments.
  • Supports the ART in achieving their PI Objectives and business outcomes.

  • Key Stakeholders: Product Manager, Release Train Engineer, IT VP, IT Leads, VP-Lean Portfolio Management

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years in one or more of the following functions: coaching, technology development, project management, 4+ years leading people or projects.
  • Preferred SAFe Certifications: Minimum SAFe Certifications: Leading SAFe (SA), Implementing SAFe (SPC), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM and ASSM), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), SAFe RTE (RTE), SAFe Lean Portfolio Management (LPM), SAFe DevOps Practitioner (SDP), SAFe Software Engineer (ASE).
  • One or more industry recognized Intermediate Agile or Professional Coaching certifications preferred: ICAgile ICP-ACC, ICAgile ICP-IDO, International Coaching Federation ICF-ACC, Scrum Alliance A-CSD.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Business or a related discipline.
  • Speaks with knowledge and confidence; citing founding thought leadership.
  • Attitude and behaviors reflect the values and principles of SAFe, Lean Thinking and the Agile Manifesto to use them to initiate and sustain conversations that inspire change.
  • Knowledge of and ability to accelerate ART and Solution Flow by applying the 8 flow accelerators.
  • Comfortable writing, piloting and delivering new course content.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and products preferred.
  • Strong passion and enthusiasm, with an ability to motivate and energize others to action.
  • Strong interpersonal and partnering skills, including an ability to build relationships at all levels and work cross-organizationally and influence others. Demonstrated success working with multiple stakeholders toward shared objectives and outcomes.
