JOB SUMMARY
Provide compliant, cost-effective land-base management and value-added environmental services which include (but not limited to): working with the farming community to source acres for beneficial reuse of materials and regulatory permitting; nutrient management planning (NMP); support for operational compliance and product use; logistics and source destination management; regulatory monitoring and reporting. Approximately 50% of the time is office work and 50% in the field, with the actual time based on immediate business needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Candidate with qualifying soil experience will be performing ground water and soil evaluations to comply with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources regulations. Experience with wetland delineation is a plus.
2. Manage land base inventory to meet operational requirements and provide strategic growth for the business.
3. Prepare site request WDNR. This includes soil and material sampling, analytical interpretation and waste characterization, geo-mapping services, interpretation of soil maps and applicable regulations to determine land base acceptability and compliant product use. 4. Facilitate compliance with all regulatory and permit conditions including frequent monitoring and reporting. 5. Provide technical information and presentations to farmers, regulatory agencies, municipal clients and the general public as needed.
6. Participate in professional and agricultural organizations as assigned.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and future customers and regulators.
8. Serve as a brand advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public as well as trade show.
9. Perform work in a safe manner while recognizing safety hazards and improved processes/procedures. 10. Support business needs for sustainability and growth. 11. Field work to include flagging setbacks, soil sampling, checking for depth to groundwater and ensuring the field is in safe condition and suitable for operation of equipment.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
1. Ability to attain knowledge of biosolids and other residual management practices
2. Knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures, methods and techniques used in agricultural and/or farming operations
3. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel including executive management and customers
4. Strong interpersonal, problem solving and relationship building skills
5. Good organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
6. Technology Savvy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
7. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
8. Ability to travel out of the area and stay overnight on occasion
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
1. Bachelor's degree in Soil Science, Agriculture, Agronomy or Environmental Science preferred or Associate in Agriculture, Soil Science or Environmental Field with some experience
2. Capable of certification as a crop consultant and/or soil/ground water evaluator
3. Valid driver's license
4. Safe driving record: No serious tickets or accidents in last 5 years or DWI/DUI in last 10 years
