Job DescriptionWe are currently in search of a skilled farm equipment mechanic who thrives in both independent and team settings. This position involves traveling to diverse client sites to perform on-the-spot repairs in the field and retrieving equipment for necessary repairs. We are looking for candidates willing to be on call after hours two to five times per month, possessing a solid understanding of various farm equipment used in different operations. For the right candidate, this role offers early supervisory experience and a path for career growth within our company. Job Responsibilities:
- Travel to client sites to conduct field repairs on farm equipment using the appropriate tools and equipment.
- Coordinate the transportation of extensively damaged equipment to the nearest facility for assignment to a specialized repair team.
- Maintain detailed records of shop supplies, tools used, and labor hours for both personal work and the team.
- Supervise a team of three to four technicians, overseeing repairs on dairy equipment, irrigation systems, and other machinery requiring collaborative efforts.
- Provide 24-hour coverage for service calls during on-call duty periods, ensuring timely response to client needs.
- Offer daytime support to on-call mechanics handling repair jobs that require additional assistance.
- Participate in location-based repair teams, servicing equipment brought in by on-call farm equipment mechanics at client work sites.
Job Skills & Qualifications: Required:
- Small engine repair certification
- Diesel engine repair certification
- Hydraulic systems repair certification
- Commercial driver's license - Class C
Preferred:
- Two or more years of experience in farm equipment repair
- Associate's degree in a field related to agriculture
