All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Summary
The Agricultural Unit Supervisor II is responsible for overseeing the work of inmates, youth offenders, and free world personnel to operate an agricultural unit. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Functions
Oversees the work of a medium-sized to large staff of free world employees, youth offenders, and/or inmates by training, scheduling, making work assignments, and closely monitoring performance. Assigns workers, inmates, and/or youth offenders to such tasks as plowing, fertilizer/herbicides application, harvesting and processing crops, milking and feeding cattle, repairing equipment, and building and grounds maintenance. Maintains inventory and requisitions additional supplies and equipment. Performs security checks and/or shakedowns of inmates. Prepares disciplinary reports on inmates listing violations of rules and regulations. Maintains records and prepares reports including farm production, fuel consumption, equipment usage and maintenance, and personnel data. Performs other duties as assigned.
Dimensions
Daily contact with the inmate population creates an element of danger. Continuous on-call time is required to respond to emergency situations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of farm operation activities. Knowledge of maintenance and repair of farm equipment. Knowledge of correctional security. Ability to assign, coordinate, and oversee the work of inmates, youth offenders, and agency personnel. Ability to train others to perform farm operation activities. Ability to perform security checks and shakedowns and enforce institutional rules and regulations. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus four years experience and/or training in farm operation, or a related field, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
