Position Type: Child Study Team/Teacher Aide Date Posted: 8/29/2024 Location: Vernon Township High School Date Available: 09/05/2024 AIDE PART-TIME REPORTS TO: Certified classroom teacher, principal and curriculum supervisors LOCATION: Vernon Township High School Vacancies: 2 - needed to monitor 2 virtual classrooms QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent Experience as required by the position Ability to assist with instructional activities and to communicate effectively with students and school staff Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices Required criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status JOB GOAL: To assist the classroom teacher by working with individual and small groups of students to provide them with educational assistance and facilitate learning in the classroom environment. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include but not limited to) Assists with individualized instruction and works with small groups of students under the supervision of the teacher to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher. Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of instructional materials and activities to individual students or groups of students. Helps with the supervision of students on field trips and/or events. Assists in building related activities such as recess, lunch room, and playground supervision, etc. Promote conversation between peers and faculty to encourage language development. Supervise students in various settings (classroom, lunchroom, playground) to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Promote independence. Help organize and manage instructional materials, supplies, and equipment to maintain an orderly learning environment. Assist in the management of classroom behavior by implementing positive behavior support strategies and redirecting inappropriate behavior as needed. Become familiar with the needs of the students he/she is responsible for by reading modifications, attending training and seeking the assistance of appropriate faculty members. Perform routine clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing and maintaining student records as directed by the teacher. Assist with taking daily attendance and maintaining accurate records, when required. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, teachers, parents and other staff members. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Performs other appropriate duties as assigned by the teacher or administrator. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined as mutually agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
