Posting Details Position Information Job Title Air Condition/Heating Mechanic 3 Department Facilities Management Administration, College of Medicine - 40380 Pay Grade 10 Job Category Support Staff Job Summary Facilities Management is seeking a skilled and dedicated Air Conditioning/Heating Mechanic 3 to join our team at the College of Medicine. In this role, you will be under general supervision while performing essential tasks related to maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment, refrigeration systems, and boiler control systems. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing pneumatic, electric, and DDC control systems, as well as replacing compressors and other components as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Outlook, Windows, and Microsoft Office, and the ability to maintain refrigerant inventory. This position requires flexibility, as you may be called upon to work second and third shifts, perform overtime, or support emergency operations, including snow removal during inclement weather. You will also be expected to report during weather-related closures as part of our commitment to ensuring essential operations. - Knowledge of central chilled water systems and associated distribution equipment is preferred.
- Knowledge of steam distribution systems is preferred.
- Ability to maintain and repair centrifugal and reciprocating chillers and cooling devices
- Ability to interpret blueprints and drawings
- Ability to plan and organize one's work
- Ability to perform the following physical demands, with or without reasonable accommodations, which may include but are not limited to: standing for long periods; frequently bending, kneeling, twisting, lifting; climbing ladders, and performing strenuous physical work daily.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess or acquire within the first six months of employment the EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working with variable volume air conditioning systems
- HVAC certification
- Electrician license
- Controls experience
- Vocational certification and two years of on-the-job experience
- Five years of on-the-job experience as a journeyman or similar experience!
