DESCRIPTION OF WORK The individual selected for this role will engage in a comprehensive one-year formal training program designed to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge required for the position of Air Quality Engineering Specialist. This includes the evaluation and issuance of Title V and State Only Operating Permits, which are critical in addressing potential air pollution concerns. The specialist will play a vital role in ensuring that all activities align with the Bureau's air pollution control initiatives, maintaining both consistency and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the incumbent will perform detailed engineering assessments of permit applications, providing informed recommendations regarding the approval or rejection of operating permits. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employmentWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Meadville. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,861 (before taxes).You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; orA bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
