Job Overview

WCM is in search of candidates with 5-7 years of experience in air quality permitting and compliance. The successful candidate will assist in the permitting efforts for new and existing facilities and play a key role in the compliance assurance for facilities covered under existing permits and air quality regulations. The Air Quality Specialist would also assist in due diligence efforts for business development acquisition projects, maintain compliance calendars, prepare emission calculations, schedule emissions monitoring and testing, file necessary forms and reports, conduct facility audits, liaise with government officials during inspections, and assist in the preparation and implementation of corrective action plans, where necessary. Ancillary duties include advising management of pending changes in air quality regulations and their potential impact to operations. In addition, candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills to foster and develop client and agency relationships. Qualified candidates must have excellent problem-solving skills as relates to air permitting and compliance strategies for our valued clients. To ensure successful onboarding and to foster a teamwork atmosphere with our experience professionals, this position is only offered as an in-office position.

Responsibilities:

  • General knowledge of New Source Review (NSR) permitting, Title V permitting, and requirements under the New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and National Emissions Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations.
  • Experience in air quality compliance preferably at industrial facilities.
  • General working knowledge of emission calculations, data analysis, control technologies, compliance auditing, permitting, and strategic regulatory analyses.
  • Self-starter with cognitive problem-solving abilities.
  • Goal orientated team player.
  • Ability to develop strong professional relations with existing clients as well as cultivate new and lasting relationships with potential clients.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills directed at clients, staff and regulators.
  • Fundamental math and science competencies (e.g., unit conversions, use of formulas, data evaluation).
  • Ability to manage manipulate large data sets
  • Proficiency with MS Office (e.g., Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint). Proficient in managing/manipulating large data sets within Excel.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations related to air permitting tasks, projects, and client operations. Ability to navigate regulatory websites and databases.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

This position requires:

  • B.S. or above in engineering or scientific discipline.
  • 5-7 years of environmental experience
  • A high level of professional ethics
  • Social skills and professionalism necessary to establish and maintain long-term working relationships with clients and co-worker
  • Limited travel (10% - 15%)
