GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Aircraft Mechanic Worker receives detailed oral instructions and written work orders from the supervisor, lead mechanic, or higher-grade employee. Follows clearly described procedures and instructions in the disassembly or reassembly of parts, subassemblies, and larger components. Entry level skills and abilities; Graduate of a certified technical college Airframe and Powerplant A&P course of study or experience in the heavy maintenance or fabrication industry.
DUTIES:
* Must develop knowledge of major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems. Requires ability to assemble the systems, assemblies, sub-assemblies, and surfaces such as fuel and hydraulic systems, and power train; and must be able to connect, mesh, align and adjust these systems with one another.
* Properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales.
* The work is spot checked during progress and the supervisor or higher-grade mechanic is available for assistance.
* Completed work is checked for compliance with instructions, specifications, and standardized shop practices and procedures. New assignments are performed under close review.
* Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
* Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective panels, parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, fittings, pumps, actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* Common understanding of maintenance standards and ability to apply experience from alternate mechanic technician duties to that of aircraft maintenance.
* Skill in reading, interpreting, and applying technical data. Must have skill in the use and read-out of powered ground equipment.
* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
* Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
* Must be a US Citizen
* Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
