Open Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to hire up to five (5) Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Crew Lead Technicians. These nine-month temporary positions will assist the Regional AIS specialists with implementing the state's aquatic invasive species program. The successful applicants will help oversee the daily operations of watercraft inspection stations located in either Cheyenne, Evanston, Glendo, Keyhole, Beulah, or Newcastle.Human Resource Contact: Alice Saldana / FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.Conduct watercraft inspections and decontamination.Provide technical support to AIS watercraft inspectors including onsite training, decision-making, and scheduling.Provide outreach and education to the public on the Department's aquatic invasive species program.Help oversee the daily operations and day-to-day logistics of the AIS check station in the absence of the Specialist.Oversee AIS data entry and quality control and ensure AIS inspectors are keeping up on data entry.Oversee the organization and maintenance of equipment including decontamination units, vehicles, sampling gear, and tablets.Assist the AIS Specialist with the implementation of outreach activities and AIS monitoring in streams, lakes, and reservoirs.PREFERENCES / AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:Preference may be given to those with work experience in aquatic invasive species prevention including watercraft interdiction, a high school degree, and customer service experience.Must have a valid driver's license.Positions require completion of the inspector training course and certification provided by the Department.KNOWLEDGE:Must be able to work well independently and with others.Must be able to make decisions with limited information in the absence of supervision.Requires attention to detail, effective oral communication, and public relations skills.Familiarity with Wyoming AIS regulations.Requires flexible schedule and working up to 12 hours per day or split shifts.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:None - See Preferences PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Weekend and holiday work will be required.NOTES:FLSA: Non-exemptSuccessful applicants for employment must pass a background check before appointment.The tentative starting date is February 27, 2025, with an end date of November 30, 2025.Locations include Cheyenne, Evanston, Glendo, Keyhole, Beulah and/or Newcastle.Uniforms and other necessary gear will be provided when in the field.Please include a cover letter when submitting the state application.
