Registered Behavior Technician

Description Position Summary:

The RBT will provide direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to support a student's academic, communication, social, and daily living skills and to reduce problematic behaviors in the school setting. The Behavior Technician utilizes interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.

Reports to: Principal

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 am-3:30 pm.

Terms of Employment: Non-union, classified position.

Salary Range: $23.00-$26.00 per hour commensurate with certification and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with the student and faculty.

Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.

Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding.

Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to various supports and reinforcements (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations).

Accurately collects behavior data including A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval-based recording.

Follows behavioral and educational plans/interventions (e.g. BIP, DTI, IEP) utilizing sound judgment and seeking appropriate consultation as needed.

Collaborates with BCBA and educational team members to provide interventions and support effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.

Qualifications

Must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or enrolled in a certification program.

Demonstrated skills with instructional technology in support of the professional staff and student learning.

Demonstrated experience in meeting the needs of all learners.

Aptitude, emotional maturity, and stability necessary for working with various types of children and professional staff.

Ability to work well with others.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must possess good judgment in the supervision of, management of, and communication with students.

Must be certified in Physical Management Training (PMT), First Aid, and CPR or be willing to be trained and certified.
