ELLWOOD Aluminum is focused on supplying some of the largest and longest aluminum billets and slabs in the industry. With dedicated melting and holding furnaces, a casting pit capable of casting product to a length of 360 inches, and two 40-ton cranes, ELLWOOD Aluminum is primed for producing the largest aluminum billets and slabs in North America. An Aluminum Casting Operator position is available with ELLWOOD Aluminum and to join our team. In this role, the Casting Operator will perform tasks related to the casting of aluminum such as preparing the casting area for production, beginning and maintaining the cast, collecting samples, and aiding other departments as needed. What you will do:
- Complete pre-cast setup to the requirements of the casting operation
- Inspect casting setup for correctness and to ensure successful cast
- Collect metal samples during casting and delivers them for quality testing
- Remove, replace and setup drain pans for continuous operation
- Operate remote control crane as required
- Perform minor repairs and cleaning of hardware
- Service troughing, molds and additional equipment as necessary
- Complete reports and logs as necessary
- Notify Control Room Operator and or General Manager of any shortages in consumables
- Notify Control Room Operator and or General Manager of any potential concerns or issues in production
What you will need:
- High School diploma or GED
- The ability to work 12-hour shifts
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Be able to bend and stand for extended periods of time, and withstand exposure to heat and cold
- Able to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines and in close quarters
- Willing to be part of a winning team and able to work all shifts, flexible hours and mandatory overtime.
- Manufacturing experience preferred, but not required. We can train.
