Job Title: Retirement Services Analyst ILabor Grade: 7Department: Retirement ServicesReports To: Manager, Retirement ServicesFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Local 153) Salary Range: As established by contract Summary: Under the supervision of the Retirement Services Manager, the Analyst I is responsible for determining pension eligibility and for processing all pension applications and death benefit claims in compliance with Plan documents and the law. These applications are inclusive of, but not be limited to, retirement, death, and disability pensions for all plans.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Determine pension eligibility in compliance with plan documents for members, spouses and beneficiaries.2. Analyze applications for completeness and accuracy; draft follow-up correspondence as needed; maintain file while application is in process.3. Process pension and death benefit applications in a timely and accurate manner.4. Required minimum distribution calculations and annual recalculations5. Review prior service record and conduct research of work history as necessary.6. Supporting all batch application processes, including the review of calculations and applications7. Test system updates.8. Complete standardized and one-off written communications.9. All banking transactions including, stop/reissue of pension payments, reclaims and reconciliations.10. Process ACH requests11. Process pension overpayment and underpayment adjustments and related correspondence12. Special projects as assigned by management.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.Technical Skills: Detailed Knowledge of pension calculations. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. High level of proficiency on Microsoft office programs, including Word and Excel. Very strong math, analytical, problem solving and decisions-making skills. Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills. Detailed oriented with strong ability to multitask.Interpersonal Skills: Strong oral and written interpersonal skills. Demonstrated customer service orientation. Ability to work both independently and as a team player. Ability to effectively operate in a fast -paced work environment.Education and/or Experience: College graduate.
