Position Summary:The Office of Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for an Application and Evaluation Specialist. The primary mission is to provide outstanding service to our transfer, international, and re-entry student population by determining admissibility, examining residency as well as providing timely and accurate transfer credit evaluations and maintaining the credit evaluation systems and policies. Additionally, this position will work with new freshmen and special applicants as they matriculate by providing a variety of administrative support and coordination for student process.This is a full-time, benefit and paid leave eligible position. Wage is $18/hour.Responsibilities:* Provide accurate and timely review and processing of transfer and international applications and transcripts utilizing PeopleSoft (PASS) and Perceptive Content daily.* Determine completeness of application file.* Determine residency of students according to Wisconsin Statutes.* Evaluate transfer course equivalencies.* Comprehensively review academic records to determine admission status/decisions.* Interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures for faculty, staff, and students regarding the transfer process.* Maintain a strong knowledge of UW System Policies, the UW-Platteville catalog as well as specific departmental requirements as they relate to transfer and international students.* Evaluate and interpret transfer grade point average.* Utilize the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) as well as Transferology.* Initiate daily and weekly queries in PeopleSoft (PASS).* Collaborate with Admission team members on outreach strategies.* Coordinate with the Operations Manager on applications needing further review.* Provide direction to students and prospective students on a variety of processes including application, registration, financial status, academic and recreational programs, and graduation and licensure requirements.* Coordinate course evaluation for admission with academic departments and registrar staff.* Communicate and submit courses to departments using the Transfer Evaluation System (TES) for review.* Maintain accuracy in TES.* Collaborate with Registrar's office to update new and/or previous equivalencies in PASS and TES.* Provide support in evaluating transfer, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and other test credit for all new applicants.* Track prospective and/or current student status on academic progress or related areas.* Provide superior service to applicants by providing timely follow up phone calls, student meetings, and emails regarding their questions about the transfer process and credit evaluations. Coordinate with university colleagues in other administrative, academic, and service offices to assist students through the registration and orientation process.* Apply knowledge of programs, procedures, and policies to provide administrative support and assistance in a student services function, escalating more complex decisions to other personnel.* Assist in processing of new freshman domestic and special students as well as other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.What You'll Need to Succeed:* High School diploma/GED* Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with diverse populations.* Eagerness to learn and understand database systems.* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with the ability to learn new software as needed and effectively utilize tools for document creation, data management, and communication.* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.* Desire to problem-solve and be a positive contributor to a team environment.Why It's Great to be a Pioneer:The University of Wisconsin-Platteville, founded in 1866, offers 47 baccalaureate and 10 master's programs.
