Position Summary

The purpose of the Applied Research Manager is to lead, direct, and manage the applied research department and team with projects and processes for our Cosmetic and Skin Care Products, as well as coordinate all activities with our global applied research members from our Congers, NY location.

Essential Functions

  • To coordinate efforts of early evaluation/screening of developing technologies for cosmetic applications, specifically to conduct proof-of-concept clinical and assessment of products in partnership with technical and non-technical business associates. Emphasizing technology transfer from the lab to a clinical setting.
  • Maintain collaborative efforts with research associates on the identification and development of new models, as well as in the implementation of established methodologies for independent testing of technologies.
  • Learn and assist in filing regulatory and Clinical SOP related documentation in various registries/databases.
  • Coordinate early clinical programs related to the assessment/screening of new technologies/formulations.
  • Use existing methods and develop new methods for screening ingredient and formula performance.
  • Identify and lead collaborative efforts with research associates for innovation opportunities and independent testing of technologies.
  • Maintain Good Clinical Practice Documentation and overall strict adherence to company Quality Standards of safety, regulatory, legal, confidentiality and ethics.
  • Responsibility for development of clinical trial protocols.
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical business associates on project needs, priorities, and study results.
  • Preparation of study reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Travel as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in science related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including an ability to interact with multi-functional technical/non-technical personnel and be effective participant in a team environment.
  • Must exhibit good project management skills, ability to multi-task and coordinate projects independently from start to completion.
  • Ability to lead the identification and application of the appropriate methodologies and data evaluation techniques to drive subsequent research direction.
  • Ability to lead the development of a focused research effort and possess good oral and written communication skills.
