Yamhill County typically hires between steps 1-4The Yamhill County Assessment and Taxation Department is seeking a Business Personal Property Appraiser to join their team. The goal is to fill this position with the most competitive candidate as a Property Appraiser I or Property Appraiser 2 based on the candidate's level of experience. Qualifications: Prior experience with Business Personal Property and Machinery and Equipment is preferred. The position requires a high school diploma or GED. A bachelor's degree in real estate, business, public administration, or related field is preferred. An associate degree in real estate with emphasis in appraisal or a related field with experience may be accepted. Appraiser certification is required within 6 months of hire. A valid license to drive in Oregon is required in addition to an acceptable driving record as driving is required for this position.The Candidate: The successful candidate will be computer literate and proficient Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. They will have excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbally and in writing. They must be self-directed and detail-oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and to interact with co-workers and members of the public in a courteous, professional manner. Minimum Experience and Training/Other Requirements MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:Two years of experience at a level equivalent to an Appraiser I. Related experience in real estate, residential building construction, building inspection or related field may be substituted. A BA/BS degree (or higher) in real estate, business administration or a related field OR any combination of experience or education equivalent to two years in a field that would demonstrate the capacity to work as a property appraiser. Examples include: previous experience dealing with the public, in construction, real estate, or as a property appraiser.Possession of Oregon State Certification as property appraiser is required.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Ability to secure and maintain a driver's license valid in the state of Oregon, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation. May be required to drive a county vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle on County business are required to carry a valid driver's license and liability insurance minimums as outlined in ORS 806.070.May be subject to successful completion of a background check. To start, employees earn 13 hours per month and future accruals increase based on years of service. After a year of service and depending on FET balance, employees may sell-back up to 40 hours of FET per year.
