Salary : $51,916.80 Annually Location : 402 Municipal Drive Lubbock, TX Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: A673-7412 Department: Lubbock Power & Light Division: 7412 - Electric Underground Lines Opening Date: 12/14/2024 Closing Date: 12/27/2024 5:00 PM Central Summary Under supervision, learns and performs electrical line construction, maintenance and repair. Essential Functions

• Assists in the construction, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground systems from either pole or aerial lift device;
• Assists in restoring overhead and underground outages;
• Assists in performing line patrol;
• Assists with the installation of transformers, switches, reclosers, capacitors, meters and other electrical apparatus;
• Digs poles and anchor holes, frames and sets poles and anchors, installs guy wires, sags, and ties in conductors;
• Installs service. Connects, disconnects and reconnects as assigned;
• Assists with streetlight installation and maintenance;
• Repairs and replaces service drops as required;
• Reads, changes, installs and seals meters as assigned;
• Becomes familiar with the electric distribution system feeds and circuits;
• Trims trees and cuts brush on right of way as assigned;
• Completes outage reports; material tickets; connects, disconnects, or reconnects orders as required;
• Operates equipment as needed;
• Requires to oversee the safe work practices of employees of lower classification assigned to work with this position;
• Perform on call duty as required;
• Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures;
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of a high school diploma with an additional one year of experience as a helper on a power line construction and maintenance crew or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Physical Exam Required Valid Current Class A Commercial Driver's License Preferred qualifications:

• Basic courses in lineman school and electricity is desirable;
• Knowledge of one line diagrams is desirable;
• A minimum of six months experience in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution line is desirable.

Applicants seeking credit for previous experience must submit the request and supply supporting documentation at the time of application. Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:

• Electrical Codes;
• Precautions to be taken in working with high voltage lines.

Ability to:

• Ability to service electrical power lines.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently climb ladders, stairs, poles, or inclined surfaces;
• Occasionally bend and kneel during the shift;
• Frequently pull wires towards oneself;
• Rotate trunk to the right or left from a sitting or standing position;
• Continuously lift up to 25 pounds, frequently lift up to 50 pounds;
• Occasionally lift up to 100 pounds;
• Place arms above, at, and below shoulder height;
• Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to drive a vehicle and operate a bucket truck.
