CVPRD is dedicated to our core values: Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer Service.What You'll Be Doing:Under the general direction of the Aquatics Coordinator and Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquatics Specialist is responsible for the daily supervision of Aquatics staff, ensuring the safety and conduct of the pool area and its patrons, and performing daily administrative and maintenance tasks. This position also facilitates the swim lesson program, provides instruction as needed, and assists with general aquatic responsibilities.The Aquatics Specialist must work effectively in a team-oriented atmosphere, providing accurate information, excellent customer service, and human relation skills to both staff and patrons.Our Ideal Candidate Will:Have a strong understanding of, and alignment with the District's Core Values: Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer Service.
  • Training and Skills Maintenance: Maintain proficiency in lifeguard, CPR, and first aid skills by attending monthly in-service training (4 hours). Assist in planning and presenting in-services to ensure staff readiness.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly and calmly in emergencies, exercising sound judgment and providing necessary care, including first aid and CPR. Serve as on-deck supervisor, implement the Emergency Action Plan, and act as the first responder during emergencies. Ensure patron safety through rule enforcement and surveillance.
  • Staff Supervision and Development: Supervise lifeguards, head lifeguards, and swim instructors, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and safety standards. Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and evaluating staff. Provide training and certification in CPR/AED, First Aid, and lifeguarding. Oversee and ensure the timely completion of staff assignments and duties.
  • Aquatics Programming: Collaborate with the Aquatics Coordinator to manage swim lesson programs, including rosters, enrollment, and daily operations. Coordinate private swim lessons and conduct classes for various age groups and abilities.
  • Pool Maintenance and Safety: Perform and supervise tasks such as chemical testing, pump room maintenance, backwashing, and cleaning. Monitor slide inspections, chemical records, and rotation tracking for compliance and safety. Inspect facilities, recommend improvements, and notify supervisors of materials or unsafe conditions.
  • Customer Service and Communication: Provide exceptional service to patrons, staff, and community members. Foster strong relationships within teams and across departments. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise information delivery.
  • Operations and Leadership: Stay informed about pool filtration, sanitation, and mechanical systems to ensure proper operations. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and adherence to district values (Innovation, Integrity, Teamwork, Customer Service). Attend and conduct meetings to support coordination across programs and operations. Apply organizational, planning, development, and time management principles effectively. Handle sensitive or stressful situations with professionalism and adherence to District Core Values.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications:Candidates over 18 must pass a background check prior to employment.
  • 1 year working experience as a Lifeguard
  • 6 months experience managing and/or leading subordinate staff
  • Current lifeguard certification from StarGuard Elite, American Red Cross, or Ellis & Associates.
  • 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AFO or CPO certification or the ability to obtain it within the first year of employment.
  • StarGuard LGI or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
Physical Demands, Job Location, and Equipment:Equipment Use: Regular use of office equipment (computer, copier, scanner, printer, phones), software (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, CivicPlus, Paylocity), and operational tools (first aid supplies, chemical testing kits, pumps/motors, safety devices, and PPE).Physical and Sensory Requirements: Moderate physical activity, including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, swimming, climbing ladders, and lifting/carrying/exerting up to 50 pounds.
