POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatics Director supervises all aquatic staff and oversees aquatic programming as well as ensuring the pools are adequately staffed during operational hours. The Aquatics Director is also responsible for booking, scheduling, and maintaining consistency for all swim lessons, as well as implementing new innovative programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties:
- Recruit/hire/supervise/schedule/train/evaluate all lifeguard staff (30 regular seasonal employees).
- Ensure strict compliance with all certifications, safety requirements and policies for lifeguard staff.
- Make trainings available for all lifeguard staff in compliance with national, state, local, and Lifeguard LI requirements for safety and first-aid training and certification.
- Respond to members' concerns and questions within 24 hours.
- Administer and ensure accuracy of payroll for the lifeguards and direct reports.
- Maintain mandatory records and statistics per Lifeguard LI standards and as directed by management.
- Oversee and administer day-to-day implementation of all pool safety policies and procedures: coordinate aquatic facility maintenance with Facilities Department to ensure compliance with all state and local health and safety codes for all pools.
- Manage all aspects of the pool annual budget.
Program Planning and Development:
- Develop, implement and oversee aquatic programs that reflect member needs and maintain Lifeguard LI's high standards of quality, safety and caring.
- Ensure timely and frequent news releases, flyers, marketing and other forms of publications, both within and outside the agency so as to effectively promote assigned programs along with timely reminders to participants of important dates.
- Monitor swim lesson registrations for accuracy.
- Distribute daily swim lesson schedule to involved departments.
- Coordinate and implement hourly/weekly pool schedule.
- Utilizing the latest aquatics trends, develop new aquatic programs and classes.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays in relation to lifeguard schedule.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or 2 years minimum of supervisory experience.
- 3+ years in Aquatics management required.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or “POOL” license certification (or obtain within 6 months of being hired)
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with staff members as well as members of the community.
- Supervisory skills include planning, budget management, team building, conflict resolution and staff evaluation.
- Ability to work well with teams as well as working independently with moderate to minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work flexible hours in an environment with constant mobility.
- Independent, highly organized self-starter.
Physical Demands:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
