POSITION SUMMARY: The Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for program operations at the Kewanee YMCA. Incumbent will have full knowledge of organization, delivery, and overall quality of the aquatics programs offered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Recruits, trains, and develops appropriate staff and volunteers, currently including lifeguards, water exercise instructors, and swim lesson instructors. Interprets YMCA policies and procedures to all staff and volunteers in a positive manner. Ensure all complete appropriate training and certifications.

* Ensures all programs have adequate staffing and supervision.

* Promotes and incorporates the YMCA mission and four core values in all appropriate aquatics programs and events.

* Monitors, evaluates, and tracks the effectiveness of and participation in all appropriate aquatics programs. Responds to all members, participants, and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

* Assist in establishing new program activities and expands programs in accordance with the YMCA's strategic plans and community needs.

* Maintaining an acceptable level of physical fitness as necessary to maintain aquatic certifications.

* Continued professional development as recommended by the YMCA of the USA and supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is not authorized to hire employees. They are authorized to schedule and direct the work of department employees.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Three years of program experience with direct supervision of staff

* Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Oral and written multilingual abilities preferred.

* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members and non- members of the YMCA or members of the business community.

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

* The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
