An Architectural Designer & Draftsperson will design and model work for our clients and Project Managers. The responsibilities of an Architectural Designer & Draftsperson include preparing residential construction drawings from schematic design to permit level drawings construction documents for moderately sized residential renovations, additions, and new homes.

Responsibilities:

+ Develop concurrent projects from schematic design through permit filing. Typical responsibilities include developing conceptual and detailed designs, modelling existing and proposed conditions, preparing project specific sections, elevations, and details, creating project schedules, laying out sheets and related views, and annotating and dimensioning drawings, in accordance with industry standards.

+ Report to the Preconstruction & Design Services Manager, keeping him/her updated on project status, schedule, and working with him/her on design/drafting time estimates.

+ Work independently or with small team, as needed.

+ Work closely with Wood Shop coordinator and Preconstruction & Design Services Manager to produce precise millwork fabrication/shop drawings in a timely basis. This is critical as the shop relies on the design staff to move projects.

+ Coordinate with project consultants including engineers, vendors, subcontractors, town officials, and other consultants, as directed.

+ Potentially engage CA clients, both independently and alongside project managers.

+ Individual is responsible for documenting as-built conditions, for collecting and transposing all necessary field measurements, and for verifying the accuracy and precision of all data collected.

+ Accurately track project hours through Cape Associates electronic timekeeping system.

Requirements:

+ Must have a bachelors degree in architecture, CADD, construction management, or related field.

+ Must have at least 2 years of prior architectural design experience.

+ Must have extensive experience with REVIT and Auto CAD.

+ Must be proficient with using Microsoft Suite.

+ Must have strong knowledge of floor plan layouts, elevations, sections, sheet organization, window/door schedules, etc.

+ Strong attention to detail, and communications skills required.

+ Construction experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

+ This is largely a sitting role however, some standing, and movement is required. Walking, and inspecting jobsites as needed, and occasionally access eaves, attics, and crawlspaces, to collect the necessary as-built information. This includes the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend/stand, as necessary.

Salary Range:

+ $65,000-$80,000 per year.
