Your Job

Join our team as an Area General Manager (AGM) and lead our Corrugated Packaging business in Northern California. As the AGM, you will have overall responsibility for the success and profitability of the plant. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and execute business strategies while directly leading our commercial sales and customer service teams across multiple facilities. Reporting to the Western Region VP of Packaging, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive growth, customer value, and operational excellence.

Location: This position is flexible to be based primarily near any of our three Northern California box facilities, including San Leandro, Modesto, or Madera, California. Frequent travel (30-40% approximately) for customer/plant visits, field sales travel, or team collaboration is typical in this position. Relocation is offered within the United States for this position.

Our Team

As a dynamic and experienced leader, you will oversee the overall commercialization of our corrugated packaging team in Northern California. With a workforce of approximately 35 to 40 dedicated employees, including sales and customer service teams, this position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in leading a team that wins together. What You Will Do

Commercial Leadership:

  • Oversee day-to-day commercial activities, including financial budgets, forecasting, customer/market strategies, commercial processes, and direct client interaction.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, including Customer Service Manager, Sales Manager, and their respective teams.
  • Foster a customer-centric culture focused on performance excellence.
  • Prioritize actions to drive customer satisfaction in both quality and service.
  • Implement new and fast-growing technologies to upgrade manufacturing processes.
  • Develop advanced manufacturing capabilities aligned with business priorities.
  • Define commercial vision, strategy, and organizational direction.

Business Strategy and Growth:

  • Develop and execute strategies and priorities aligned with a market-focused vision.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for innovation and profitable growth.
  • Coordinate with operations and other departments to achieve business goals.

Relationship Building and Collaboration:

  • Strengthen existing customer relationships and pursue profitable new relationships.
  • Enhance collaboration between Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Supply Chain within a matrix organization.
  • Embrace a culture-first mindset, focused on winning together.

Financial Management:

  • Manage financial budgets (P&L) across three sites and improve business profitability.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, forecasting, and budgeting using financial acumen.

Compliance, Safety, and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, industry standards, and GP best practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the paper or packaging industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Successful leadership experience in a manufacturing plant and/or direct sales.
  • Proven track record in talent development and team growth.
  • Proficiency in managing profit and loss (P&L) statements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in general management within the corrugated or related packaging industry.
  • Master's of Business Administration (MBA) or a related advanced degree.

For this role, we anticipate paying $250,000 - $290,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
