Work is normally done manually or with the assistance of equipment. Tasks will vary however; each particular task is of a highly routine nature and performed according to readily available standards and guidelines. Tasks performed outside the normal routine are received orally or in writing. The events center is open seven days a week except holidays observed by the City of Palmer, work may be performed any day of the week beginning as early as 5:00 AM and ending as late as 1:00 AM.Essential Functions & Duties
- Perform general custodial duties to include, but not limited to, sweeping an/or mopping floors, emptying trash, cleaning windows and Plexiglas, washing walls, and cleaning restrooms.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and/or parking lot of building.
- Operate cash register, telephone, copier, automatic floor scrubber, snow blower, Zamboni, hand tools, and small power tools.
- Work in concession stand as required.
- Answer telephone, routine office work, minor building maintenance, ensuring building security, and referring problems to supervisor.
- Setting up and tearing down for events.
- Observe and enforce all rules and regulations of the facility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Personal Qualifications
- Alaska State Drivers License with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate and maintain Zamboni perferred.
- Ability to ice skate desired.
- Availability to work varying hours.
- Ability to learn to effectively operate ice resurfacing equipment.
- Ability to perform the various custodial tasks associated with the care and cleaning of buildings.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate and effectively work with patrons of all ages, parents, public, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to work as a member of a team working towards a common goal.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements for the position.
