Job title: Art Director Department: Creative Location: Chattanooga or Nashville, TN Reports to: Senior Art Director Supervises: Associate Graphic Designer(s) or Graphic Designer(s) FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt Mgmt Level: 3 Onsite Level: 3 Position Summary: The Art Director is primarily responsible for managing LEO's brand standards and clients, as well as the look and feel of presentations and designs produced in a variety of mediums. While working with LEO's account executives and creative teams, this position gives visual guidance to internal/freelance designers while retaining concepts developed by the Creative Director. This position also includes development, execution, and presentation of design concepts that include RFP proposals, show content, environmental installs, and themed logo/brand guidelines. Job Responsibilities • Advocate for fresh designs and unique solutions, pushing the team to create pieces that are memorable and attention-getting. Should be adept in many styles and regularly research design trends. • Ambassador for brand standards (internal and external). Ensure that all are abiding by the directives set forth while enforcing rules when necessary. Also understand when brands can be pushed creatively when conceptualizing new ideas. • Aid in the design direction of company's response to RFPs, including case studies and capability decks. This includes reviewing, helping assign, and managing all external design work. • Work with Sales & Marketing Department to coordinate on assets, design direction, and visual guidance for internal LEO-branded requests and client collateral. • Assist in live presentations and pitches, communicating with client in face-to-face meetings to gain knowledge and direction. • Assist in on-site art direction and guide assigned designers, freelancers, and internal colleagues in the execution of show elements. • Manage the assignments and workload timelines of self and direct report(s) using Asana to aid in this process. • Mentor and work with Sr. Art Director on setting goals for internal teams' development and career paths. • Provide direction and review process for design projects as needed, both internally and onsite • Design a variety of projects in multiple formats and mediums, including: printed decks/booklets, PowerPoint/Keynote presentations, wide screen animations, website/apps, marketing collateral, video story boards, environmental mock-ups, specialty invites/leave behinds, logos and brand guidelines • Oversee print production of LEO print needs, including large-format banners, signage, agenda guides, invites, and supporting event materials. This requires on-site management and visual direction to hired vendors that are installing environmental print collateral. • Collect and capture images/photos for completed show/job/project, as well as contributing input on shot-lists to photographers. • Work in tandem with SVP of Creative and Sr. Art Director to help develop projects visually and conceptually while giving input and support for final execution. • Ensure team members are utilizing Clockify each week to track time spent on projects/assignments. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a design-related field or equivalent experience • 5 years of relevant design experience • Impactful portfolio that presents current work in multiple mediums Competencies • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), PowerPoint, Keynote, with a solid experience in a Macintosh environment • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to multi-task, especially while traveling or on event site • Excellent communicator with ability to listen, influence, persuade and present visual ideas while exercising a high degree of tact and diplomacy with a professional yet positive approach • Self-motivated team player with ability to interact collaboratively with multiple teams • Ability to manage projects and supervise designers while continuing to grow their skills, confidence, and competencies. • Demonstrated creative thinking skills • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment • Respects and maintains confidentiality Environmental Conditions and Physical Demands: Employee required to spend a portion of time in a seated position looking at a computer screen. Employee required to do some standing and walking. Employee will be in a welllighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
