POSITION OVERVIEW The Art Therapist will provide psychoeducational and therapeutic art and mindfulness activities to group and individual community members focusing on emotional expression, regulation, and trauma processing as requested by the community. The Art Therapist will also utilize art and traditional mindfulness techniques to support the application of a mindfulness curriculum in our ECE classrooms and in our parenting support programs. POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Applying mindfulness curriculum in Early Childhood Education (ECE) classrooms Providing weekly activities with ECE children to enhance mindfulness skills utilizing both traditional modalities and art as instructed by supervisor, consultants and Department of Behavioral Health coach Providing teacher support for mindfulness instruction as outlined by supervisor Creating take-home activities and supplies for parents to practice mindfulness with their children Collaborating with external partners to achieve department goals Providing direct art therapy services to community Creating and implementing art therapy workshops to families and community Providing individual art therapy to MT individual counseling referrals through partnership with Community Wellness Ventures Partnering with the Family Engagement team to provide psychoeducation and support to enrolled families Providing other psychoeducational activities as required/requested Assisting with ongoing workshops including Healthy Happy Hour Evaluation and data management Administering qualitative and quantitative assessments and inputting into required systems Conducting needed literature reviews Receiving and inputting referrals for services Maintaining attendance documentation Meeting referral and data reporting deadlines EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of mindfulness principles and skills and how they can be applied at varying developmental ages Knowledge of Art therapy techniques and ability to adapt techniques based on audience and environment Knowledge of data entry best practices, HIPAA, and ethical guidelines regarding clinical service provision Ability to warmly connect with community including adults, children and parents Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and balance multiple priorities while maintaining workflow and documentation expectations. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and efficiently across multiple platforms Demonstrated commitment to Martha's Table's core values of compassion, respect, teamwork, and accountability EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Master's degree in clinical counseling with specialization in art therapy Completion of clinical internship Completion of mindfulness training specifically for children and families. Art therapy/ LGPC eligible Minimum of 1 year of experience working in community-based setting working with children and families providing clinical counseling services in traditional clinical settings collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals in order to inform and improve services working with protected health information and clinical documentation WORKING CONDITIONS Light travel to provide in-house workshops/ mental health awareness initiatives and outreach at community settings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. COVID-19 Martha's Table requires all team members to have completed a COVID-19 primary series and receive one booster dose. Candidates who are not yet eligible for a booster must submit proof of their booster vaccination within 2 months of receiving their final primary series dose or an original monovalent booster vaccine to [email protected].
