Position Overview: Visit Pearland is the official destination marketing organization for the City of Pearland with a primary focus of promoting and marketing the City of Pearland as a destination to attract visitors. Visit Pearland recently led the development of the City's first Cultural Arts Master Plan and is a lead agency in its implementation. The Arts Administrator position is the City's first professional arts manager position, called for in the cultural plan.
The Arts Administrator will manage the existing arts programming at Visit Pearland and help develop new and expand programs in alignment with the cultural plan. This position will work alongside Visit Pearland staff, who have up to now been responsible for the existing programs, such as the Pear-Scape Trail public art program, arts, and cultural events, and the cultural arts grant program.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the lead staff for the City's cultural arts programs and investments in collaboration with under the direction of the Visit Pearland Executive Director.
- Plan and curate arts and cultural events aimed at boosting cultural tourism in Pearland.
- Oversee sponsorship and grant-funded requirements for arts and cultural events supported by Visit Pearland
- Manage the City's public arts initiatives, including the Pear-Scape Trail, utility box art installations, and future projects from the recommendations in the Cultural Arts Master Plan.
- Oversee public art program personnel or contractors with specialized qualifications.
- Administer the cultural arts grants and sponsorship programs related to the arts.
- Collaborate with the Visit Pearland Marketing team to promote arts and cultural initiatives.
- Engaging with the local arts community and coordinate with City departments to align cultural efforts citywide.
- Participate in relevant professional development opportunities
- Execute other responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director, especially those related to implementing the Cultural Arts Master Plan.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of three years' experience managing and planning arts and cultural programs
- Experience with cultural tourism, grantmaking, public art, and/or marketing is preferred
