This position will also develop and/or build caring relationships with their ministry staff, volunteers, and parents.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Actively demonstrates our biblically rooted and Christ centered core behaviors.
- Maintains personal spiritual development through Bible reading, prayer, worship, and Christian community.
- Being relational with children and parents by learning their names, stories, and communicating with them outside of Sunday morning programming. This includes weekly and monthly touch points in the form of phone calls, letters, birthday cards, driveway visits, attending activities the children are in and praying for their families.
- Provides caring relationship outside of Sunday mornings for the ministry staff, parents, and volunteers by following up with problems or concerns, writing cards, making phone calls, sending texts, and providing discipleship opportunities and encouragement.
- Plans all programming curriculum in your area including the small group lesson plan, crafts, and activities, modifying, and interpreting the given curriculum as necessary to align with Asbury.
- Plans and attends AsburyKids Summer Wednesday events for the children.
- Prayerfully leads and adequately prepares Sunday AM ministry staff and volunteer huddles, providing all relevant information, review of lesson plans, prayer, and encouragement for the day ahead.
- Prayerfully leads the ministry worship service (Big Group) by both planning and executing the ministry sermon, activities and leading worship.
- Assists and communicates with the Director of AsburyKids in managing, scheduling, and overseeing all ministry staff, volunteers, and parents in their assigned classroom.
- Assists in planning ministry volunteer appreciation gifts and events.
- Assists in creating, overseeing, and planning AsburyKids ministry events (VBS, Mother's Fellowship, Parentology, KNO, etc.)
- Participates as part of the AsburyKids leadership team by attending weekly ministry meetings, and by supporting the initiatives of the ministry and each ministry area.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee will work in a professional ministry related office environment as well as classroom environment with ministry staff, volunteers, and children. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. Employee may come into contact with childhood diseases and blood on occasion.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis is largely an active role, may be standing for long periods of time While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to clearly hear. The employee must be able to lift and or carry items over 25 lbs.RequirementsRequirements for the position

- Must be an active member or become an active member of Asbury Church.
- Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage, and implement the role of AsburyKids Associate within the parameters of a theologically conservative church.
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- At least one year of experience in ministry, classroom management or education with children.
- CPR Certification.
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate ministry volunteers and staff.
- Proven ability to facilitate difficult conversations in effort to resolve delicate personal issues.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work quickly.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Proficient in planning and delivering age-appropriate sermons to children on a weekly basis.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a 4-to-5-person ministry leadership team.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Be a self-starter and able to work with little oversight.
- Must be adaptable to quickly changing situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all circumstances.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while serving others.
- Must be able to work with all levels of ministry leadership and staff effectively.
