We recognize that each of our employees is a unique individual with the ability to contribute to our success and seek to find great people who will thrive in our fun, fast-paced culture.The production assembly team at Thorlabs Measurement Systems assembles precision, multiprobe video measurement systems, their subassemblies, and associated metrology products. This position operates among a diverse team of assemblers, technicians, and engineers, conducting daily assembly tasks under the guidance of experienced team members. While this position is based in Sparta, NJ, up to 10% travel may be required to customer locations and other Thorlabs sites.RequirementsEssential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
  • Ability to understand written and oral procedures for a wide range of products, subassemblies, and system builds.
  • Executes assigned builds within the required timeframe, to the highest of quality standards, and in compliance with the specified build procedure and Bill of Materials.
  • Conducts Quality Control inspections as specified in the written or oral procedures.
  • Assists with documenting and improving build procedures at the direction of the production manager.
  • Communicates discrepancies between procedures and the Bill of Materials when identified, to ensure inventory is accurate and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Assists in inventory cycle-counting as required and notifies supervisor of low stock levels.
Physical Activities:The employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often small. As a result, they should have a steady hand and good hand-eye coordination. Work may be sedentary, could stand, or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally. Employees may be required to work with chemical-based products on the production floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Qualifications Experience:
  • 6 months of prior experience in a similar position preferred.
Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret, follow, edit, and provide feedback on written work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Ability to work well in a diverse and dynamic team environment and comply with high quality standards.
  • Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment.
