Position Summary: Level two assembly mechanics perform a variety of different assembly tasks under little supervision. These individuals must be proficient in blueprint reading and related shop math. Level two assembly mechanics must have sufficient knowledge of and the ability to use a variety of different handheld tools and basic assembly tools. They will also use basic inspection tools such as sales, micrometers, calipers and feeler gauges to ensure parts meet specified requirements. With minimal assistance they will assemble moderately complex parts that have a high risk for potential error. They will utilize a wide range of hardware and sealant types. This includes having a proficiency in interfay, fillet and overcoat sealant applications. This position typically requires 1-2 years of assembly or related mechanical experience. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- With minimal supervision perform a variety of moderately complex assembly operations.
- Perform basic inspection operations to insure component alignment, clearance, cleanliness and fastening.
- Maintain area organization and cleanliness through-out shift.
- Assist and train lower level assembly mechanics as necessary.
Required Skills:
- The ability to use basic hand tools as well as basic assembly tools such as clamps, rivet guns, countersinks and drills.
- The ability to use basic inspection tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers and feeler gauges to complete required inspection procedures.
- Proficiency in basic shop math and print reading.
- Position requires the ability to lift up to 35 lbs, carry up to 20 ft and load parts in fixtures weighting up to 35 lbs
Required Experience:
- This position requires evidence of successfully demonstrating mastery of level one competencies with at least one year of experience.
- 1-2 years of experience
Level of Education:
- GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.
