Description Position at Autocar, LLC Assembly Engineer Job DescriptionSummaryThe primary responsibility of the Assembly Engineer is to facilitate the seamless manufacture and transition of new products and options into the assembly environment. Assembly Engineers will perform all aspects of continuous improvement, including but not limited to: 1. Support day-to-day assembly production and quality, including utilizing computerized solid works drawings, torque gauges and performing all inventory back flushes (recording of component and supply production usage to increase manufacturing efficiency) as required. 2. Implementation of lean manufacturing assembly practices, including designation and implementation of assigned layouts for tools, parts and supplies with goal of maximum throughput. 3. Troubleshoot and prevent assembly delays by determining cause and then designing, testing, validating and implementing solutions; provide solutions to issues raised by others. 4. Using analysis of computerized solid works drawings, analyze parts design, specifications and tolerances to ensure proper use in assembly environment. 5. Manufacturing engineering, industrial and process engineering related functions, including use of manufacturing engineering skills and relating them to resolution of current assembly issues. 6. Implementation of 5S principles, including visual management and addition of organizational aids. 7. Develop adjustments or improvements to assembly process, equipment and tooling. 8. Project management of introduction of new products/options into production; assist with new product development. 9. Develop improvements to Throughput and Quality Control. 10. Promote and enhance safety and ergonomics on the assembly line by creating a safe work environment within the stations.Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably assembly in the automotive or heavy truck industry
  • Understanding of time study/line balancing
  • Strong work ethic, great attitude and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Production-oriented and hands-on
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Labworks programming a plus
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks Composer, and NX Unigraphics a plus
