Prepares work schedules, assigns work, and oversees the work product. Ensures conformance to established procedures and product quality levels. Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and supervise repairs as necessary. Supervises a group of primarily Assembly Systems Mechanic team. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority over personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Typically requires 3-5 years' experience in the related area as an individual contributor.MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fabrication, welding, and repair of metal structures (both steel and aluminum).
- Steel and aluminum welding and fabrication (marine projects).
- Understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Diagnose issues, and perform maintenance and repairs as directed by Supervisor within worker's capability.
- Ensure work is conducted according to quality system processes and any Inspection Test Plans (ITP).
- Maintain a clean, tidy, productive work environment.
- Active participation in daily toolbox talks.
- Work harmoniously with team and other Birdon employees and contractors.
- Perform all duties to a high quality in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTESESSENTIALDESIRABLEMinimum three (3) years experience in a mechanical assembly environment or demonstrated proficiency in assembling procedures.MIG weldingCertified to a moderate level of skill and knowledge to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.Experience in maritime industryExperience in aluminum and steel fabrication in the marine and defense industriesConfined space sentry, entry, and/or rescueAbility to understand and interpret drawings and specifications. RELATIONSHIPSThis position is based in Denver, CO, Bellingham, WA, Portland, CT or Elmwood, LA and will report to the Assembly Supervisor. Birdon's senior management team, including Divisional Managers, may provide additional direction and duties from time to time. This role requires a good relationship with the individuals and teams across the Production and Project delivery organizations to ensure Birdon achieves the safe completion of the agreed work, in the time required.Clear communication and interpersonal skills are necessary as direct contact with Birdon clients, prospective clients, and production team is an important aspect of this position.
