Job Description :
The Assembly Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the Assembly Departments to increase efficiency and throughput in the production areas. The Assembly Support Specialist is responsible for administrative support as well as performing mechanical operations to produce compressors and other sub-assemblies at required quality standards while achieving maximum efficiency. The Assembly Support Specialist reports to the Assembly Operations Supervisor/CIC.JOB FUNCTIONS Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
  • Read and interpret Electrical and Mechanical schematics and Diagrams to assemble units and components.
  • Audit Bill of Material to ensure all issued parts are with the job and of the required quantity. If not, network with warehouse, engineering, and production coordinators to have the required parts delivered.
  • Use Made2Manage (M2M) to research job order information, sales orders, parts availability etc.
  • Properly maintain job paperwork, including job orders, drawings, Bill of Material changes, etc.
  • Use Vault to access assembly and schematic drawings.
  • Analyze assembly and schematic drawings to determine any need for revisions and refer to the engineering department. Redline, when necessary, submit accordingly.
  • Understand when and how to utilize the BOMAF and MPL processes as well as Asana.
  • Communicate Opportunities for Success documents with Production Coordinators to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Provide electrical support to the Takt lines, when necessary, with wiring units, panels, and motors.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, or jib cranes when needed.
  • Provide mechanical support to the Takt lines and Tubing Cell when needed.
  • Responsible for the final unit checks and tubes which includes completing IPI Sheets and Workmanship instructions Sheets (WIS).
  • Complete and submit Red Tags, BOMAFs, and Maintenance Request Forms.
  • Responsible for the movement and tracking of units.
  • Communicate the Supervisor's instructions to takt line employees.
  • Support the Test Dept. with any adjustments required for completion of unit.
  • Print floor stock labels.
  • Support the takt line in the supervisor's absence.
  • Troubleshooting problems that arise during the assembly process on the takt line.
  • Attending production meetings in the supervisor's absence.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or other related field; OR a minimum of three (3) plus years of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in reading mechanical and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Possess an understanding of electrical wiring and harnessing.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for placement of parts.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting standard measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, squares, etc.
  • Proficient in safely operating overhead/jib crane.
  • Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power, and air tools.
  • Possess high quality standards.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.
VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or other related field.
  • Experience in LEAN concepts.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience a plus.
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
