Job Summary

The powder coating painter will work with the paint department, using industry standard powder painting techniques and processes to surface prep and apply powder paint on aluminum and steel substrates. Typical paint department processes include sanding, polishing, loading, unloading, cleaning etching, pretreat, masking, painting, touchup, and rework processes. As an Assembly Technician Powder Coat Painter, you may be flexed into other departments on the production floor as needs arise.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions

  • Execute production work orders, gather required tools and materials, follows instructions and paint specifications required for job.
  • Prepare parts for coating by sanding, wiping, hanging parts on the conveyor.
  • Will be responsible for inspecting for and maintaining a high level of quality for all coated parts produced by department.
  • Use manual hand-held guns to apply powder paint as the parts move by on the conveyor.
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, pumps, agitators and booth filtration systems.
  • Follow safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepare or build up vehicle parts, sub-systems and components
  • Perform quality checks and inspections to ensure quality
  • Operate various power tools, hoists, and production equipment

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Ability to read and understand routings, work orders, manifests, and production reports
  • Ability to take instructions and work with little supervision
  • Ability to operate overhead crane
  • Must be a team player with focus on customer service and quality
  • Must have solid work attendance and be reliable
  • Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent

Physical Requirements

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
