SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Assembly Technicians I fabricate control panels from engineering drawings following the company's Panel Assembly Standards. Prepares and packs panels for shipment. Also responsible for the organization, upkeep, and cleanliness of the shop. Provide support to all personnel pertaining to all shop related activities and responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Reviews and verifies the correctness of project panel drawings received from Engineering.
* Fabricates panels per the For Manufacturing project drawings and follows the company's Panel Assembly Standards.
* Performs control panel burn-in to ensure proper power wiring and identify any DOA/IM panel components.
* Provide comprehensive and accurate control panel drawing mark-ups for As Built conditions.
* Follows the company's Best Practices and utilizes the established Panel Assembly Standards.
* Develops a solid understanding of UL and NEC codes that affect control panels. Stay current on all changes.
* Discusses any manufacturing issues with the Production Manager.
* Meets with the Production Manager daily to discuss and review progress.
* Understands and meets control panel manufacture labor budgets.
* Becomes proficient with and stays current on the operation of all shop equipment.
* Performs daily clean-up on personal workspace and overall shop.
* Certified to operate the company forklift to move equipment as necessary.
* Use various software's on computer to print drawings, labels, enter timesheets, etc.
* Backup to warehouse personnel for receiving and inspection of external packaging of all incoming shipments. Notifies warehouse personnel of any apparent shipping damage and proceeds accordingly.
* Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the Production Manager
Meets with Regional and/or Project Managers on manufacturing issues.
Coordinates with Engineering for design issues
QUALIFICATIONS
* A high school diploma is required.
* Ability to work with people is essential.
* Knowledge of component parts installation in enclosures, electrical wiring standards, and manufacturing standards are desired. Electrical experience a must.
* Must be able to work M-F 7am to 4pm
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Subpanel and equipment moving is expected. Exertion of up to 100 lbs. of force will be necessary for moving panels and boxes. Good manual dexterity is required for installing components and wires within enclosures. Activities include extended periods of standing, cutting, and component assembly at a work bench.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed indoors in the company's manufacturing area. Exposure to common dust, fumes, wire clippings, and noise in a fabrication environment is expected.
TRAVEL
Travel is limited. To include occasional delivery of manufactured equipment and performing job-site panel or wiring modifications and/or installation assistance.
