Job Description

The InclusiveU Assistant Academic Coordinator will play an essential role facilitating academic success and the overall campus experience for InclusiveU students. The Assistant Academic Coordinator will provide comprehensive support to InclusiveU advisors to ensure students are on track to complete their credentials. This role will also facilitate the implementation of modifications and support in accessing the accommodations that students need to be successful in their academic experience. The Assistant Academic Coordinator will also implement trainings and support in the scheduling of Student Support Assistants to ensure student needs are met, along with providing regular feedback to detail progress throughout the semester. This role requires an organized individual who can effectively communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, and support staff to ensure an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and experience.
Skills and Knowledge
  • At least two (2+) plus years providing direct services in education to individuals with intellectual disability, preferred.
  • Knowledge of academic accommodations, modifications, assistive technologies and academic support tools/resources.
  • Ability to co-manage multiple student and staff schedules.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, faculty and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in supporting InclusiveU advisors through the advising process each semester; verifying students are making progress towards their credential, interfacing with faculty to secure course permission, meeting with InclusiveU students to assist with course selection and the registration process.
  • Support the implementation of accommodations and modifications for InclusiveU students by interfacing with the Center for Disability Resources (CDR), facilitating workshops, and meetings with students and faculty if necessary.
  • Implement training and support the scheduling of Student Support Assistants to ensure students have high quality support in their academic courses and to participate in clubs, organizations and events on campus.
  • Identify student support needs and collaborate with the Academic Coordinator to assist in implementing strategies.
  • Interface with key university offices (Registrar, Bursar, and Financial Aid, etc.) and academic departments to assist students in accessing courses.
