Job Summary
The Department of History at Grambling State University seeks a full-time tenure-track assistant / associate professor of United States History, beginning August 2025, contingent upon the availability of funding. Applicants with expertise in any chronological period or specialization of US History are welcome. Active involvement with professional organizations and teaching experience at the university level are preferred. Evidence of grant writing, research, and publication a plus. The preferred candidate must have a commitment to teaching and contributing to the successful development of majors in the department.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
The Successful candidate is expected to: Teach general education sections of World History and/or US HistoryTeach upper level history courses in his/her specialized field Advise students in the History major Contribute to the History Club and/or the department chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta Serve on committees, as assigned by the Department Chair and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Attend faculty meetings, convocations, and commencements, and to participate in other official University functions when requested Perform other tasks assigned by the Department Chair, Dean of the College/School, or Provost
Qualifications
Minimum: Ph.D. degree in History or related field is required. ABD considered. Preferred: Ability to teach courses in United States history Experience with digital history and/or public historyExperience with equity-minded teaching and learning
