Certified Assistant Athletic Trainer

Position Description:
York University, in York, Nebraska is seeking applicants for the position of full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer for the 2024-2025 academic year (beginning August 2024). York University athletics competes in the NAIA and is a member of Kansas Collegiate Athletics Conference (KCAC).
Qualifications:
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from CAAHEP or CAATE accredited college/university and have a firm commitment to strong, liberal arts, Christian education. The candidate will answer directly to the full-time Head Certified Athletic Trainer under the direction of the Director of Athletics. NATA BOC Certified or exam eligible (must successfully complete BOC certification exam before start date). Eligible for Nebraska State Licensure. First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certified.
Other Qualifications:
* Good Interpersonal skills, ability to work independently
* Schedule will vary week to week depending on events. Weekend coverage will be required with some possible travel coverage.
Roles & Responsibilities:

* Evaluate athletic injuries through assessment measurements, athlete history, and specialized testing; and develop a treatment plan.
* Confer with physicians, when needed, in making decisions on when an athlete can return to practice/competition. Documents athlete's evaluation, treatment plan, and progress.
* Communicate with athlete, coach(es), and family members (if applicable), regarding athlete's treatment and progress.
* Apply protective or injury-prevention devices such as tape, bandages, and braces as necessary.
* Learn to use/operate any new job-related programs and equipment. Participate in designated meetings and mandatory training.
