The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in overseeing the planning, organizing, managing, and implementation of the work of and the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Training Room. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight and care coordination for all services provided through Concord University Sports Medicine in relation to the Athletic Training Services for all intercollegiate sports.

Essential Functions:
* Provides day to day management of the Athletic Training services.
* Provides oversight and care coordination for all services provided through Concord University Sports Medicine Clinic.
* Provides oversight and coordination of administrative services as needed for the Sports Medicine Clinic.

General Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative services for all student athletic training programs.
2. Serve as primary athletic trainer for specific assigned teams, including onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
3. Serve as liaison among staff, student athletes, parents, team physicians, and specialists involved in treating students.
4. Assist in oversight of electronic documentation and database management of sports medicine program records.
5. Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, prevention strategies and injury prevention programs.
6. Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations.
7. Communicate with coaching staffs regarding injury status of athletes.
8. Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.
9. Manage Sports Medicine facility, including inventory, scheduling, etc. as assigned.
10. Provide clinical supervision/education of students.
11. Perform administrative and other duties as assigned per supervisor.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
Work is characterized by the incumbent's involvement with and knowledge of the mission, goals and needs of the Sports Medicine Program. The work requires a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity of information, and the incumbent is typically the most experienced staffer/resource person assigned to that particular program or office.
Relates to:
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work collaboratively with the University's Practitioners, Athletic Director, Head Coaches, and administrators.
The individual's will also serve as a Preceptor for the CAATE Accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
% of Time Duty/Responsibility
Physical/Work Demands:
* Work is medium demand.
* Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects.
* Medium strength is required to position patients for examination.
* May assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the exam table.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Work is combined time in clinic and at athletic venues covering practices.

Education/Knowledge
Minimum Education Master's Required Licenses/Certification
Master's degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science or a related field is required.
* Current NATA-BOC Certification Required
* Current CPR for Professional Rescuer Certification Required
* WV Licensure required upon hire

* Ability to reason logically so as to effectively analyze and solve problems.
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
* Ability to speak and write effectively and to develop reports.
* Ability to work independently, with a minimum of direction and under broad guidelines.
* Ability to make decisions with regard to release of sensitive information combined with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all areas.
