The Assistant Boxing Coach will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: assist in monitoring boxing activities during trainings and practices; drive to off-site practices, competitions, and trainings; assists with instructing program participants in boxing, warm-up and conditioning exercises; recommends performances of program participants to boxing supervisors and explains techniques; adheres to strict safety rules and guidelines that allows for proper protocol and instruction of boxing program; assists in set-up and tear down of equipment and preparing boxing area for activities and events; maintains equipment and facilities in clean and safe condition; and may perform other assigned duties as required.BENEFITS AND COMPENSATIONHourly compensation will depend on qualifications, prior experience and skills. - Knowledge of proper boxing techniques and fundamentals of standard safety procedures.
- Ability to implement and teach boxing programs for youth, teens and adults.
- Ability to instruct boxing participants on safe boxing techniques and physical training regimens
- Knowledge of proper equipment and ability to set up boxing equipment.
- Knowledge of City policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of using recreational facilities, programs and equipment.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with City staff, volunteers, public groups, media and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducationEducation equivalent to high school diploma.ExperienceTwo (2) years of progressive experience participating or coaching in a boxing programPossess valid Membership and USA Boxing Coach Certificate is desired.License or CertificatePossess and maintain a valid Class C California driver's license.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOURSThis position involves the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, twist, stoop and climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and be able to travel to different sites and locations; some activities are performed outdoors and/or at various locations while participating in competitions.This is a non-benefited, at-will part-time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Recreation & Community Services Department. Candidates must be able to work all assigned shifts, which may include mornings, afternoons, evening shifts, and/or occasional weekends. Employee shall work up to 20 hours per week not to exceed 960 total hours per fiscal year.This position is considered a Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act.
