Job Description SummaryThe Sporting Kansas City Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach and Sporting Director in developing and managing the overall performance of SKC players, coaches, technical staff, competitions, and other activities related to team performance. The position is to be a key contributor to the technical team while ensuring all work is consistent with the Sporting KC brand purpose: We create memories through personalized experiences with our Club. We encourage all talented individuals seeking a challenge to apply.Job DescriptionResponsible for assisting Head Coach with day-to-day training sessions, including planning, preparation, execution, and evaluation of sessions.
  • Daily management of SKC first team players which includes (but not limited to) individual/group on-field instruction, meetings, video review and providing a communication channel between players and Head Coach.
  • Assist Head Coach and Player Personnel Department with roster management of first team, player scouting and recruitment, player development and transfers.
  • Assist with building and supervising Sporting Club Staff, coaches, trainers, and scouts for both first and second Team.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the SKC Game Model which all teams in the Club shall follow and respect.
Match Day Responsibilities
  • Meet with the Head Coach and staff to assist with finalizing game strategy prior to kickoff.
  • Observe and analyze 1st half of game in stadium.
  • At Halftime, provide critical analysis of team performance (including video feedback) and provide potential solutions for the 2nd half.
  • Assist the Head Coach on the team bench with game strategy and instructions for players entering the game as substitutes.

Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate required.
  • Experience playing soccer for a winning, high-level team preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years coaching a professional level team.
  • USSF A License and UEFA A License preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends pertaining to training philosophies and tactical ideas.
  • Full and extensive knowledge of the rules of soccer.
  • Knowledge of MLS roster rules.
  • Proficiency in English required. A strong grasp of other languages is preferred.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
