Summary of Position
Responsible for assisting with the implementation and management of the Sports Performance program.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:In compliance with applicable NCAA Policy, Inter-association Guidelines, and/or Consensus Guidelines and in conjunction with the use of performance data and analytics: analyzes available data on strength and conditioning of new and returning student-athletes in order to identify potential levels of physical ability; tests athletes to evaluate performance level and desired areas of improvement; implements and monitors safe and effective strength, speed, agility, and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for football and sports as assigned, including pre-season, in-season, and off-season workouts; instructs proper technique for appropriate sport specific exercises, and implements appropriate exercise sequences, sets, repetitions, recovery periods, load, frequency, and intensity; instructs athletes in correct execution of flexibility and speed development; assists in supervising and monitoring safe and successful operation of sports performance facilities.
Participates in meetings as assigned with staff members representing athletic training, performance nutrition, performance psychology, and student athlete development.
Works with staff as needed to assist in the execution of prevention andrehabilitation programs.
Works under the direction of the performance nutrition staff to assist in the execution of nutrition education programming, as well as safe and healthy techniques related to achieving body composition and performance goals.
Assists in the supervision of internships, including instruction and coaching development.
Maintains strength and conditioning records, prepares reports of athletes' status and progress.
Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
Meets all job safety requirements and all applicableOSHAsafety standards that pertain to essential functions.
Actively participates in public relations appearances and community services activities on behalf of the department.
Complies with allNCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.
Promotes the Sports Performance department, includingassisting with on-campus recruiting activities for prospective student-athletes.
Complies with certification guidelines for continuing education.
Performs all other related duties as assigned or directed in order to promote, further, and ensure the effective and efficient operation ofYSU Sports Performance and the Athletic Department.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:Assists with training new hires.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated:Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule:Regularly works evenings and weekends as required. Travels with teams as assigned.
Supervision Exercised:Supervision is exercised over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies
CPR/AED/First Aid certifications; certification throughNSCAorCSCCA.Valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications:At least a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports medicine, physical education, or a related field and one or more year(s) of post-graduate strength and conditioning experience in intercollegiate athletics.Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree.
Physical Requirements: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.
