Job Description: The Assistant Controller will support our Accounting and Operations teams by performing a variety of accounting and analysis functions. These include processing and overseeing accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, financial reporting, and job cost analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile weekly billing/invoicing to customers.
- Oversee monthly invoicing of rent roll.
- Analyze current week's billing versus prior week.
- Compare pricing against purchase orders.
- Submit payment requests to customers.
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable invoices.
- Generate statements and follow up on payment requests to customers.
- Conduct job cost analysis on assigned projects and summarize results.
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present results to senior management.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and budgets, including preparation of workpapers.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist with tax audits and preparation of tax returns.
- Conduct internal and external audits as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years of public accounting experience, preferably with a large public accounting firm.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years in a Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller role.
- Experience in the construction industry, distribution, or similar fields is desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar accounting software.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
