Assistant ControllerThis position is based out of Air Power Dynamics located in Mentor, OH.JOB SUMMARYIn this role you will be considered a key member of the Finance team, partnering with the Controller and management to drive financial visibility, reporting, and execution. The Assistant Controller works closely with the Controller, Finance/Accounting team&leadership team, providing strategic analysis and decision support with out-of-the-box thinking, along with accurate financial&operational metrics. An ideal candidate for this role will be independently driven, an effective catalyst for process improvements, detail oriented and inquisitive.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the day-to-day accounting functions for APD, including month end close, revenue tracking, inventory control, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable.
- Work with members of finance to improve and maintain a monthly Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation process.
- Streamline and document processes and controls around the entire Order to Cash Cycle, ensuring accuracy in PO management, billing, and timely customer collections.
- Play a key role in an upcoming migration from QuickBooks Online to an Oracle ERP system, expected in 2025/early 2026.
- Partner with Controller to drive improvement initiatives across the accounting organization.
- Establish and document finance standard operating procedures in line with corporate policies.
- Leverage MS Excel and database skills to support data management for reporting and analysis.
- Play a key role in establishing part cost analysis, including BOM's, part routers, and overhead rates, which will be crucial for the Oracle ERP migration.
- Comply with all safety, GAAP and FASB policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate proper attendance and dependability.
- Work on/participate in special projects as needed or assigned by management.
- Assist with preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages for management.
- Assist in financial planning and budget preparation.
- Demonstrate initiative and adaptability.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:High school diploma or equivalent&bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
- Experience: 5+ years previous experience in a professional Accounting/Finance role with progressive responsibility required, 3+ years in a manufacturing environment required
- Experience being an advocate for change, driving process improvements and procedural documentation.
- Prior leadership experience required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and possess strong Excel skills.
- Must have experience with ERP systems / financial reporting software.
- Experienced with general ledger functions and the month-end close process.
- Experience with QuickBooks is highly preferred.
- Experience with Oracle ERP is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong analytical and quantitative skillsŁ« with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates desire and ability for growth.
- Certifications/Licenses: CPA strongly preferred.
