Utah Valley University is seeking an Assistant Coordinator - Academic Tutoring/Science Lab (Part-Time, Variable Hour).
Under the supervision of the director of academic tutoring, the assistant coordinator will:
* Assist in coordinating, supervising, and evaluating the overall operation and staff of the peer tutoring program.
* Primary responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, and evaluating tutors, along with other daily administrative duties.
* Additional responsibilities include collecting data to identify program needs, working closely with faculty for academic workshops and student recruitment, and developing training materials and delivering tutor training.
* Occasionally will help with developing marketing materials and activities to promote services.
* Assists in coordinating, supervising, and evaluating the overall operation and staff of the peer tutoring program, including staffing, scheduling, and daily administrative operations.
* Assists in developing training materials and facilitating tutor training in a manner that meets College Reading and Learning Association CRLA guidelines and monitors tutor progress toward certification goals.
* Assists with data collection to assess policies and procedures, evaluate resource utilization, and identify opportunities for program development.
* Assists with academic department, instructor, academic advisor, and other partnerships to develop new initiatives and recruit potential tutors.
* Assists in the development of marketing materials and promotional activities and communicates program information to faculty, staff, and students.
* Performs other job related duties as assigned.
* Associate's degree and one year of experience in a related field; any combination of post-secondary education and work experience totaling three years
* Demonstrated experience with tutoring/teaching in an academic setting or professional organization.
* Knowledge of and experience with student support programs, including a good understanding of the learning process and learning differences.
* Knowledge of and experience with design, planning, and implementation of academic workshops and outreach initiatives.
* Knowledge of and sensitivity to diverse student experiences in academic environment.
* Skilled in research, analysis, and development to identify program needs, utilize available resources, and create positive program results.
* Skilled in computers and computer applications.
* Skilled in coordinating promotional events and activities and developing marketing to target particular student groups as appropriate.
* Effective interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to foster academic partnerships with faculty, staff, and students of all disciplines and academic backgrounds.
* Ability to supervise, train, observe, and evaluate student employees.
* Ability to work independently and complete tasks without supervision.
* Ability to solve problems and communicate solutions with coworkers, supervisors, and students.
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
