The Opportunity

Columbia-Greene Community College is seeking a full-time Assistant Dean of Students who will support students in a nurturing, holistic, and inclusive environment. Reporting into the Dean of Students, this position will play a pivotal role in supporting student outcomes, managing wrap-around initiatives to address increasingly diverse student needs, and championing innovative strategies to engage today's learners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deputize for the Dean of Students when required or assigned.
  • The Assistant Dean performs duties as requested and may have responsibility for the administrative supervision of other professional, technical, clerical and student support personnel assigned by the Dean of Students.
  • In collaboration with campus stakeholders, leads initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes, including but not limited to retention, completion, and time to degree.
  • Provides vision and leadership to the range of programs and initiatives aimed at supporting the success of underrepresented students.
  • Engages in planning, program development, and training designed to address the needs of the College's diverse student body.
  • Represents the Dean of Students in various meetings with faculty, students, governmental representatives and members of the public.
  • Provides grant management for external funding sources for initiatives related to the student experience.
  • Assists in the management of assessment and effectiveness initiatives across the Department of Student Affairs, including the oversight of reporting schedules, data collection, and learning outcome development.
  • Works with campus stakeholders to enhance communications to students regarding holistic support services and engagement opportunities.
  • Serves as an investigator, hearing officer, or in related capacity for conduct matters per the Student Code of Conduct.
  • In collaboration with the Dean of Students, responsible for the annual publication of the Student Handbook.
  • Works with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure information regarding student support services is current on the College' website.
  • Maintains an events calendar for initiatives across the Department of Student Affairs and relevant offices across campus.
  • Participates in the planning and day-of coordination for the annual commencement ceremony.
  • Serves on committees as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related; with seven (7) years' experience in the field. * Please note, candidates without a master's degree are welcome to submit in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position.
  • Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage administrative tasks
  • Excellent judgement and respect for confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving/conflict resolution, and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to support individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple situations and projects.

Salary and Benefits Information

Annual 12-month salary $80K and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
