About the Program:Lake Highland Preparatory School is a top regional and statewide debate program, as well as nationally recognized. This past year, LHP debaters broke to late break rounds (quarters, semis, finals) in almost every national circuit tournament they attended and made it to quarters and semis of TOC. Additionally, our program was recognized as a Debate School of Excellence at both the NCFL and NSDA National Tournaments. LHP is an overall Top 50 NSDA Speech & Debate program in the country. Job Summary:LHP seeks an Assistant Debate Coach who can teach students fundamentals and skills for competition in Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum. Experience in Policy and World Schools Debate is also ideal to help students who may choose to try these events during the year. Responsibilities include working with the interim Speech/Debate Director to set practice and tournament standards; maintaining and modeling positive relationships with students and coaching staff; and coordinating team meetings at least three times per week between 3:00 - 5:30 pm. This coach would also be expected to assist with and lead travel to weekend tournaments locally, regionally, and nationally. The ideal candidate is age-eligible to rent cars, charter buses, and make other required travel arrangements. This is an adjunct, non-benefitted, seasonal position. • Experience coaching high school speech & debate required, preferably with a program that regularly competes in national competitions in Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum.
• Bachelor's Degree in Social Science, English, Communications, or another related field preferred.
• Familiarity with NSDA, TOC, CFL, and other debate leagues preferred.
• Familiarity with Tabroom, Speechwire, and other online debate tournament platforms preferred.
